Works has just completed on a 5 number extra care apartment block unit at Bennett Court, South Elmsall.

The apartments provide a much needed increase in the capacity at the complex care service, Bennett Court, located on Ash Grove in South Elmsall. They will allow local people access to the specialist nursing care they need, closer to home and out of hospital.

The one of a kind apartments offer independent living for up to nine adults living with complex needs.

They’re ideal for people who display behaviours of concern who may find it challenging to live in a large group environment or those who are looking for a move towards independence from the main nursing home as part of their rehabilitation.

Other residents may be those in the early stages of Huntington’s disease who aren’t ready to move into the main care home yet.

The new apartments are on the grounds of the existing Bennett Court care home. This provides overarching support from an established service when needed.

Each spacious apartment comprises an open plan living space with a kitchen-diner, a lounge, laundry facilities and a kitchen, complete with rise and fall sink and cooking hobs. Each bedroom will have its own en-suite wet room.

The apartments promote independence whilst providing a safe and secure home that’s fitted with the latest nurse call system which has been linked to doors, bed alarms, coded doors, electronic records and a secure fenced garden.

There’s also a communal ‘Hub’ for socialising with other residents.
