Weaponness House Completion
25th Sept 2019
Walter Thompson recently completed work at Weaponness House Boarding School in Scarborough on behalf of Scarborough College. The project started in October 2018 with a 46 week programme and handed over in the middle of September 2019.
New Purpose Build Extension and Refurbishment
Weaponness House, Scarborough
The work consisted of a refurbishment to the existing Weaponness House building and an extension turning the building from 27 bedrooms to 54 bedrooms, plus adding living spaces for the house master and assistant house master and their families.
The extension included a new wing which considerably increased the capacity for the sixth form students attending Scarborough College. This includes single en-suite rooms for the Sixth Formers plus the option of double or twin rooms for Year 11 students and those Sixth Formers who might prefer to share. This gives the opportunity for the college to welcome more of their local day students to join the boarding community as weekly and flexi boarders. There are shared lounges, gardens and a modern courtyard. In addition, numerous traditional features within the existing main building were maintained.
